THEY ARE NOT GENUINE INSPECTORS!!!
It is reported that they were not in uniform but were wearing RSPCA style bibs and fake identity. It has been reported that on some cases it was two men, and on other occasions two ladies knocking and asking to see peoples dogs.
Their motivation is unclear, although this is obviously a very worrying issue to those who have had visits. The Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust advice is:
1) DO NOT LET THEM IN AND DO NOT LET THEM SEE OR TELL THEM ABOUT YOUR DOGS.
2) ASK FOR THEIR IDENTITY CARD AND ASK THEM TO WAIT OUTSIDE.
3) CALL THE MAIN RSPCA CALL CENTER NUMBER - NOT THE NUMBER THEY GIVE YOU!!
The RSPCA's official cruelty number is: 0300 1234 999
4) IF YOU ARE IN ANY DANGER OR FEARFUL FOR YOUR SAFETY OR YOUR DOGS, CALL THE POLICE ON 999.
IF IN DOUBT DO NOT LET THEM IN, CALL THE POLICE!!!
The Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust is available for specific advice or support on this matter and is in communication with Central Bedfordshire Council and the local police on this matter.
