The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme
|
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme is the largest dog training scheme in the UK. Its aim is to promote responsible dog ownership and in turn, enhance our relationship with our pets and to make the community aware of the benefits associated with dog ownership.
The Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust fully supports the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, and believes it should be adopted by all reputable dog trainers as the "national standard" for dog training. If you are looking for dog training classes, we recommend that you make sure the trainer provides the Good Citizen Dog Scheme. The Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust is itself a Kennel Club Listed Status organisation, and all its obedience training courses are based on the scheme, from Puppy, through to Bronze, then Silver and Gold. The scheme is open to all dogs of whatever age, pedigree or cross breed. Its non competitive and on completion you receive a splendid Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme certificate. A PDF download of the description of each Good Citizen Dog Scheme level is published (right) for you to view, download and print. In addition our Agility, Flyball, Rally Obedience (Rally-O) and Ring Craft members are also able to join in the scheme testing sessions. Please Note!!
All our obedience courses are based on the scheme, to train your dog to be ready for testing. At the end of your obedience course, you will receive a Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust certificate and rosette. Testing days for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme are arranged 2 times a year, and to gain your KC GCDS certificate you must attend and be tested at one of these sessions. Completing the training course alone will not result in a KC GCDS certificate being issued. |
