External Affairs Team

The Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust is the premier canine organisation in Central Bedfordshire, representing over 1000 dogs owners in Central Bedfordshire.

The trust has a dedicated “External Affairs” team. Their remit is “to represent and be the voice of dog owners in Central Bedfordshire and to help local authorities, Members of Parliament and decision makers”.

The External Affairs Team isn’t just a lobbying body which says “no!” Instead we aim to build strong and solid relationships with local councils, authorities, residents associations, Members of Parliament and national government.

We want all councillors, officials & Members of Parliament to know that if you are facing decisions relating to dogs in Central Bedfordshire, that we can help! Our team are able to offer advice, information, publicity and practical support. One of the most useful tools we publish is “The Dog Report” and we are keen to work alongside all authorities in the promotion of responsible dog ownership and “Poop Scoop” campaigns, which our team can organise.

We believe that by the trust and authorities working together, local dog owning residents of Central Bedfordshire can have a fair voice, be fairly represented and dogs will have a positive impact on wider society.

A recent survey conducted by the Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust revealed that local dog owners felt seriously under represented by their local councillors and Members of Parliament, on dog related topics. They feared knee jerk reactions to anti dog media and they worried that the new Clean Neighbourhoods & Environment Act (Dog Control Orders) may be used as a “Cash Machine” for local authorities.  Remember these people are not just dog owners; they are your constituents and voters!

You can help change this perception!! You can ensure that the Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust is your first point of call for all dog related matters!
