At a meeting of the Board Of Trustees of the Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust on Monday 16th January 2012, the Trustees reviewed the current competition league, show commendations and Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust – Show Champion Title.

In order to keep the commendations challenging and to continue to reflect quality dogs, the number of points required to achieve a commendation have been increased and changed to:

100 points – Bronze Commendation
200 points – Silver Commendation
300 points – Gold Commendation

For the awarding of the title of Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust – Show Champion the points required has now been based on the dogs Stud Book Band. This change will now make it fairer and a level playing field for dogs in both high and low numerical breeds. In addition to be awarded a Show Champion title the dog must now have won at least one Challenge Certificate or Best Of Breed at a Championship Dog Show.

After feedback from many of the members who take part in the league and submit points, you may now only claim points when there are more than three dogs entered in the class. It doesn’t matter how many are absent/present as long as three dogs are entered in the class.

In light of the new High Profile Breeds as designated by The Kennel Club, there is now a requirement that before a dog of a High Profile Breed can be awarded a Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust – Show Champion Certificate it must have passed at least one, veterinary examination at a Championship Dog Show and details/copy of this examination must be forwarded with the claim form.

To reflect these changes the old point’s books have been withdrawn and a new claim form and information pack has been issued. These can be downloaded from the Competition League page of our website. You will also now find a Microsoft Word version of the claim form, which you can use to complete on your computer, print and then return.

The Board Of Trustees feel that these changes will continue to ensure the quality of the Central Bedfordshire Canine Trust – Show Commendations and Show Champion Title.

The Dog Of The Year and Kennel Of The Year points trophy will be largely unaffected by these changes, and you should record your points on the new claim forms, and ensure they are submitted by the 5th December 2012, you may back date any points won after the 5th December 2011.

Anybody with comments of queries should contact the trust office, who will also be happy to send out printed copies of claim forms, should you be unable to download and print them yourself.
